Can You Use a Calculator on the Wonderlic Test?

Many people who know they need to take the Wonderlic, whether they are job applicants or future NFL players, falsely assume that they will be able to rely on the help of a calculator to solve some of the tough math problems found on the Wonderlic test. Unfortunately for them, calculators are not allowed on the Wonderlic test. All questions on the Wonderlic are designed to be solved without the aid of the calculator.

For that reason, if you are practicing for an upcoming Wonderlic test it is best to take practice tests and study without using a calculator. Feel free to take one of our sample Wonderlic tests to help get used to questions you would expect to see on your upcoming Wonderlic test.

Try The Wonderlic Test Sample Quiz:

This is a 50-question sample Wonderlic® Quiz which provides questions similar to that of the real test.  You will have 12 minutes (720 seconds) to answer 50 questions.  You score 1 point for each correct answer.  Your time will start as soon as the next page loads.  Good luck!

One of the reasons calculators are not allowed on the Wonderlic is because results of the test would be influenced by who is better at using a calculator or who brought the better calculator to the test.

Test takers are able to solve problems by hand using scratch paper and a pencil, but not with any tools that will solve math problems automatically.

In reality, the Wonderlic test is a test that evaluates both accuracy and speed. The test consists of 50 total questions that must be answered within 12 minutes. That leaves a mere 14 seconds per question. If you are not able to quickly solve a question without the aid of a calculator, it is in your best interest to stop wasting time, take a guess, and move along to the next question.

In addition to not using a calculator when practicing, it is a good idea to have a timer handy to know how long it takes you to complete a list of Wonderlic sample questions. Many people who get low scores on the Wonderlic fail not because they can’t get answers right, but because they run out of time. Getting yourself accustomed to the fast pace required to complete the Wonderlic test is critical to getting a good score.

Best of luck, and remember don’t use a calculator when practicing, taking the test for real or taking the Wonderlic test for fun!
